Himalayan / Domestic Long Hair / Mixed (long coat) Cat

Crumbles the Cat needs a home

After months of waiting in foster care, while his broken jaw mended, the wires have been removed, and Crumbles has been approved as a candidate for adoption.

In early February, Crumbles was found in Sulphur Springs by one of the City’s dedicated ACO’s, who took him to Bright Star Veterinary Clinic for evaluation. Dr. Larsen didn’t hesitate attempting to save his life. Extensive surgery involved removal of a portion of his front jaw bone, then partially wiring his mouth clos...ed in hopes of stabilizing the jaw.

Crumbles spent most of the month of February with Dr. Larsen and her staff, until he improved to the point of being released to a foster home for continued care., at which time DFW Purebred and Domestic Cat Rescue, Inc. entrusted Gary and me with that job.

Fast forward to May 12. Dr. Bradshaw at Lake Country Animal Clinic in Mineola removed Crumbles’ jaw hardware, and he advised to wait a month and then bring him back for further evaluation as to his adoptable status.

June 12 – Crumbles was given the go-ahead for the adoption program. Even though his front lower jaw is still loose, additional surgery to permanently tighten it could lead to further complications. As Crumbles is in no pain or discomfort in his present condition, Dr. Bradshaw thought it best to leave the jaw as is.

So, our boy is officially looking for a purr-ever home.

He drools just a bit; his mouth looks just a tad crooked; but, he eats like a little pig, weighing in now at almost eight pounds. Crumbles is a bossy little fellow, who considers himself in charge. He has been caught chasing other cats in his foster home, making them scream for mercy, and delighting in his dominance. These dust-ups don’t happen often, only when a good opportunity arises (in his opinion), and we usually have to put him in “time out” to come down from high horse.

Otherwise, this boy has personality! He is a silly, funny, clumsy boy, who loves to play with toys. He would, of course, love to be an only child, but would also fit into a home with other cats, who are not easily intimidated. Oh, and he gives awesome face bonks, kisses, and hugs
